What We’re Reading: “The Miracle Equation” by Hal Elrod

For anyone that’s read “The Miracle Morning”, this book will be an awesome supplement to the lessons/routine laid out in Elrod’s earlier work. While “The Miracle Morning” covers the morning habits that can prepare you to win the day, simply implementing the SAVERS (acronym for silence, affirmations, visualization, exercise, reading, scribing) morning routine won’t necessarily get you to achieving your goals. That’s where this book comes in. Below were my big take-aways:

  • The Miracle Equation:   Unwavering Faith + Extraordinary Effort = Miracles
    • Unwavering faith means being committed to the process without being emotionally attached to your results. You have to detach from the outcome and instead focus on the process itself. You also have to let go of fear/self-doubt and focus on faith. Crafting a Miracle Maven statement can help with that.
    • Extraordinary effort doesn’t mean working 18-hour days 7 days a week. It’s about small, consistent steps every day. Break your goal down into bite-size pieces and attack them every day.
  • Goal-setting isn’t important for merely helping you achieve your goals. It’s about who you have to become to reach them that makes goals really powerful.
  • Narrowly focus on 1 goal. Goals aren’t “to do” lists. Make your goal your mission. Once you have this goal in mind, line up 3 processes you can do every day, even on your worst day. Time-block them on your calendar.
    • Adjust your process based on your progress. If you’re not seeing results, re-evaluate if you’re focusing on the right actions.
  • The bigger the adversity you face, the bigger the opportunity for growth.
