RaisingFest Conference 2023 – Recap

We recently had the opportunity to attend the RaiseFest Conference in, of all places, our ‘home market’ of Louisville, KY. We were surrounded by 500+ like-minded commercial real estate operators and capital raisers all seeking to elevate their game. Collectively, there was >$10 Bn in assets controlled by those in the room! The quality of the conversations in the hallway alone during the conference was well worth the ticket price. The highlight for us was hearing Jesse Itzler speak about his story and the philosophies that have helped him accomplish some insane things in his life. For those unfamiliar, Jesse Itzler is:
    • Writer and singer of the New York Knicks theme song “Go NY Go”
    • Co-founder of Marquis Jet, later sold to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway
    • Part owner of the Atlanta Hawks NBA franchise
    • Early investor in ZICO Water, later sold to Coca-Cola
    • Author of NY Times Bestseller “Living With a SEAL: 31 Days Training With the Toughest Man on the Planet.”

His speech centered around the idea that, while we’re all seeking to become Billionaires and industry leaders, we can’t lose sight of the fact that we all have a fixed shelf life. He used some powerful personal stories to illustrate the fact that ‘success without fulfillment is the ultimate failure’ as Tony Robbins would say. He ended his speech off by saying that we can’t take for granted the fact that there’s one thing we all share in common as humans: we were all born with a limitless amount of potential kindness and compassion. He challenged us to empty our tanks in regard to the humanity that we bring to every interaction in business and in life.
